Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation enlarges your breast using implants to have fuller breasts or to restore the volume lost from pregnancy or weight loss.
You are a good candidate if naturally you have small breasts, your breast are "deflated" by weight loss/pregnancy or your breast are very different in size. If your breast are sagging and the nipples are already low, you may need a lift in addition to the breast augmentation.

There is many incisions and implant placement alternatives, as well as choice in the type of implant to use. You will have to be evaluated to determine the best options for you.

The most important decision is whether the implants are placed above or below the muscles.

Under the muscle

Requires general anesthesia and usually takes longer to do. The advantages of this technique are:
1. Breast are softer

2. Breast are more natural looking

3. Implant is not as conspicuous

4. Cleavage is more natural looking

5. Less sagging with time

Above the muscle

Can be done under sedation, and id less costly to do; however, this method has these disadvantages:
1. Implants are more conspicuous

2. Implants will sag more with time; and you may eventually need a breast lift

3. More of a tendency of breast becoming hard because of capsular contracture; you may need another surgery to release the thick capsule

4. Cleavage would be more sharply delineated and less natural looking

The different types of incisions and implants will be discussed by Dr. de Olarte at the time of the consultation and will take approximately one hour.
